Collection: COLLECTION 2 - 'SHOOTER'

In 1995, before the WNBA took over, HP executive Steve Hams, Olympian Anne Cribbs and marketing firm owner Gary Cavalli started the first independent professional basketball league for women in the United States, known as the ABL (American Basketball League). The league’s first game took place on the evening of October 18, 1996, at the San Jose Event Center.

The ABL took advantage of the growing popularity of  women’s basketball via increased exposure on national television, booming participation in youth sports by girls and young women, and the appeal of the Olympic gold-medal-winning 1996 U.S. women’s team.

The ABL established the most competitive women's basketball league in the world and introduced unprecedented player participation in ownership and management before losing out to the WNBA in 1999.

ABL was a pioneer in the sport of women’s basketball and in giving players a real voice in their league.

Our brand Always Blowin Loud 247 shares the ABL namesake with this historic league. In homage to this short lived but very rare era of basketball,

ABL 247 presents Collection 2: Shooter.
